Applications for 2027 open September 1!

A Reading List for Curious Minds

Some of the most memorable moments at Oxford Academia happen outside of scheduled seminars. From conversations over meals to unexpected recommendations from faculty, students are constantly discovering new ways to explore the ideas that inspire them, and longtime instructor Mihaela Mitrovic is no exception.

An architect, neuroscientist, and interdisciplinary researcher, Mihaela teaches Architecture & Design and AI: Applications & Ethics at Oxford Academia. This summer, she created a beautifully designed collection of book recommendations curated specifically for teenage readers and shared it with students throughout Corpus Christi College via QR codes.

Rather than simply recommending books on a particular subject, Mihaela organized her reading list around students’ interests, encouraging them to explore new ideas, make unexpected connections across disciplines, and follow their curiosity wherever it leads.

The result? A surprise hit. Students eagerly scanned the codes to discover books spanning architecture, artificial intelligence, psychology, philosophy, history, fiction, and more. Even better, the collection is designed to keep growing, with new recommendations and student suggestions added over time.

We’ve shared some of Mihaela’s recommendations from her presentation below so you can explore them, too.
