Nicholas Salmon
Oxford Academia
After finishing his engineering degree at the University of Queensland, Nick spent three years as a consulting engineer for Worley, where he visited and worked on sites in Jamaica, Saudi Arabia, and Siberia. He then waved goodbye to sunny Australia and moved to England after he was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to study at the University of Oxford. Alongside his interest in engineering, Nick was heavily involved in Australian debating, working as the President of the Queensland Debating Union and Australian Debating Federation. In his spare time he likes to run, and finds the (very flat!) city of Oxford perfect for breaking his half-marathon personal bests. Nick is now pursuing his DPhil, which investigates the use of green fuels to resolve spatiotemporal mismatches in renewable energy resource quality. Nick is proficient in German. After he finishes teaching this summer, Nick will be focusing on the final year of his DPhil, playing his violin in the university orchestra, and baking for his housemates.
