Upon completing his bachelor’s degree in Barbados, Dale returned to his home country of Belize and worked in the school system. There was an evident need for a focus on the mental, social, and emotional wellbeing of students and this prompted him to pursue graduate degrees in counseling and psychology. During this time he conducted research on international students’ experiences, multiculturalism in counseling, and culturally responsive counseling techniques. He is now a program director for a graduate counseling program in New York City, a clinical professor, and a licensed mental health clinician working with underserved populations specializing in trauma. He enjoys traveling, exploring nature, and most recently weight lifting and outdoor running. This fall he will return to his university to continue to develop educational programs and expand his reach through community-based workshops on trauma and healing.
