Our Approach to Learning

At Oxford Academia, learning is an immersive and transformative educational experience. With programs held at six world-renowned institutions—The University of Oxford, The American University of Paris, Yale University, Temple University Japan, University of Siena, and Esade Business School—we combine rigorous academics, hands-on exploration, and cultural enrichment. Whether studying history, science, literature, or the arts, students have the opportunity to engage deeply with their passions while discovering new ones. Guided by expert faculty and surrounded by peers from around the world, students leave each program with a profound sense of achievement and inspiration.

The Oxford-Cambridge Tutorial System

The Oxford-Cambridge tutorial system is a hallmark of academic excellence, offering a highly personalized approach to learning. Through small-group sessions, students engage directly with inspiring faculty to discuss ideas, analyze material, and receive tailored feedback on their work. This rigorous system emphasizes critical thinking, intellectual independence, and active participation, helping students develop the confidence, analytical skills, and adaptability needed to excel academically and beyond. Renowned for fostering deep understanding, the Oxford-Cambridge tutorial system is central to the academic experience at Oxford, and combined with field-based learning at each of these revered universities.

Seminar Structure

Life on Oxford Academia programs balances intellectual challenge and inquiry with cultural discovery. After breakfast, mornings are devoted to in-depth study within each student’s major seminar, held in classrooms, labs, or meeting spaces, and often extending into local historical sites or museums, or featuring visits from guest experts that connect ideas to the wider world. Lunch is typically taken in small groups with peers and staff. Afternoons bring new perspectives through minor seminars, workshops, or explorations across campus and around the city. Students might pursue a creative project, practice language skills in real-world settings, or join a peer-led activity. Evenings draw the community together over shared meals, elective workshops, guest lectures, and interactive sessions on topics such as college admissions, global issues, or creative leadership.

Outside the Classroom

Learning extends far beyond the classroom in all our programs. At Oxford, students walk the halls of medieval colleges, explore museums, and engage with the city’s rich history. In Paris, the city itself becomes the classroom, with opportunities to study world-class art collections, landmarks, and neighborhoods rich with cultural and historical significance. At Yale, students explore the university’s iconic campus and New Haven’s vibrant community, gaining insights into American history and innovation. In Siena, they learn amid Renaissance architecture and centuries-old civic traditions, while in Barcelona and Tokyo, they experience global business, design, and cultural exchange firsthand. These out-of-classroom experiences are integral to our programs, building connections between academic study and real-world exploration.
