Ed began traveling to Japan from his home in Portland, Oregon, when just 11 years old and it’s safe to say he is still captivated by Japan today. Ed has spent more than eight years living and teaching English in Japan to a wide range of ages in a variety of settings. Most recently, he relocated to Vermont from the outskirts of Nagoya, where he taught preschoolers to be bilingual, and helped junior high students prepare for exams. After a year at the Brattleboro Retreat helping in-patient teens with academics as a tutor, school liaison, and teacher, Ed joined Putney Student Travel to help share the life-changing magic of Japan with a new generation of students. In his free time, he enjoys playing music, games, studying Japanese and spending time with his two children.
