While at Concordia, Fiona studied comparative politics in the bilingual setting of Montreal, Canada while co-hosting a music radio show and serving as the fashion editor for an online culture publication. She taught English from pre-K to adults in Spain and South Korea, traveling and eating her way through many countries in between. While traveling through Southeast Asia, she took cooking classes in Thailand and Vietnam and visited tea fields in South Korea, Japan, and Vietnam. She even plucked, roasted, and rolled her own tea in Vietnam. She is passionate about teaching language through culture and has been complimented on her rapid food-related language acquisition in new languages. She worked in international development for four years, helping develop federally funded education projects in French-speaking countries around the world. During this time, she traveled to Senegal to lead communications strategy development workshops for an investment and entrepreneurship program. Fiona is half French and German, and is fluent in French, German, and Spanish and is proficient in Korean. This fall, she will be continuing her master’s program in Paris and continuing her role as a graduate-level leader for the university’s student media.
