With an M.A. in International Relations from Leiden University and a B.A. from the University of Strathclyde, Shanah explores the intersection of gender and race in U.S. immigration policy. Transitioning from academia to practice, she moved to Madrid, Spain, in 2019, where she leads a grassroots nonprofit, Intersect Madrid. Shanah leads training programs in schools and higher institutions to incorporate social justice anti-racist teaching into their practice through workshops and curriculum design. She has facilitated over 45 training workshops empowering teachers to champion diversity and inclusion within educational settings. Her efforts have contributed to nurturing more equitable learning environments for students from diverse backgrounds. Through her substack blog, Maneuvering, Shanah discusses anti-racism, feminism, and her experiences as a South-Asian woman. Beyond her professional endeavors, she enjoys feminist literature, rollerblading, and community engagement in Madrid.
